Head of Representative Office

Order Follow-Up, Quality Control and Supply Chain Management for eyeglasses frame business and other optical goods made by Asian suppliers to export to ESCHENBACH OPTIK GMBH (www.eschenbach-optik.com), German Optical Group, distributed in Europe and USA

Location: Shenzhen

Industry:
Manufacturing of high-quality frames, sunglasses and other optical goods, e. g. binoculars and optical ODM-/OEM-components (target markets: optical retail); sourcing for German manufacturer in Asia (especially PRC).

Mission:
o Set up presence for German Optical Group in Shenzhen, China
o Build professional and trustable team with good knowledge of Quality Control and Supply Chain Management to ensure consistent top quality supply to German company (i.e. product property / shipment time / cost)
o Build-up Supply-management function: coordinate incoming orders from Europe, USA (and in the long term also from Great Britain) and deliveries back to these countries

Deliverables:
o Advise on best legal structure for Shenzhen entity (Rep Office, WFOE, Consulting Company, etc.); implement structure once decided
o Draft budget in accordance with given targets; manage once decided
o Hire, train, and lead professional team of 5-6 staffers, assisted by a high-skilled Chinese QC-Pro (designated Vice-Head).
o Build thorough relationship with suppliers; train and support suppliers as necessary
o Set up rules and standards with clients; carry out spot checks and audits on suppliers’ premises
o Ensure proper documentation in both directions, avoid misunderstandings
o Build up quality/management system for Shenzhen entity to ensure consistent long-term performance
o Keep German HQ updated and informed both regularly and timely in case of special occurrences
o Monitor market and suggest supply candidates to increase supplier base in case necessary
o Have all logistics under control; establish solid relationships with shippers and customs entities

Qualification & Experience:
Education
o University degree or comparable; can be offset by proven experience
o Language skills
- English: fluent, German: fluent
- Chinese: at least basic knowledge; proficiency a clear plus
o Formal education/training in Quality and Supply Chain Management
Experience
o Experience in headship position
o Work experience in China >2 years as Expatriate or by regular business-travels
o Work experience in Quality Management and Supply Chain Management or near purchasing/production Product Management > 3 years
o Industry experience in manufacturing field (espec. metal and plastic), ideally know-how in surface finishing of high-quality consumer goods; eyewear manufacturing a plus
o Well-marked commercial know-how
Other
o Foreign passport holder, preferred German
o Highly independent work style with entrepreneurial thinking and attitude
o Highly developed communication and inter-cultural skills
o Travel-Mobility within China and East-Asia
o Key Competences as attached

The company offers Expatriate Package and will provide training in Europe.
