Advanced Specialist Electrical Energy Management and Charging Systems

A varied, interesting position awaits you.

As a Specialist Electrical Energy Management and Charging Systems you will

  • Support the standardization / harmonization of legal and technical standards for charging-plug, charging-communication, EVSE design, design of charging system and smart grid communication.
  • Define, interpret and commentate the relevant standards and requirements.
  • China specific “Electric Vehicle“ technical product requirement definition from both a component and whole vehicle perspective for electrical energy management and charging. Requirements for new vehicle concepts and projects in close coordination with the relevant department in Munich.
  • Define, plan and implement of local testing requirements for charging systems for AC-Charging with regard to vehicle compatibility.
  • Identifying local trends for charging systems inclusive local benchmarking and ensuring relevant information is communicated to relevant areas.
  • Develop network to relevant local utilities and infrastructure suppliers, e.g. companies that are active in contributing to the charging standard.
  • Contribute the Chinese standardization for direct current (DC) charging with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) communication and harmonize with activities in other regions in Asia.
  • Evaluate the feasibility of smart charging (controlled Charging) for the Chinese market.
  • Evaluate a “charging package” together with local Market responsible which can be offered to BMW-customers and provides maximum of safety, premium handling and billing system.
  • Push development of charging related added value services like for example smart phone app, media access, billing, navigation incl. charging stations, availability and booking charging station.

Qualification

  • Engineering degree (master or bachelor with international studies) in automotive / electrical / computer / communications engineering or similar. Basic programming knowledge preferred.
  • Four to six years experience in Research & Development (especially charging), at least two years within the field of e-mobility.
  • Four to six years experience in standardisation work, ideally participating in a standardisation working group in China.
  • Deep knowledge of verification methods and partners in the E/E development process especially in the areas of battery, charging unit and charging communication.
  • Deep knowledge of BMW/MINI electric vehicles strategy and concept and those of the competition.
  • Knowledge of automotive product evolution process, ideally in BMW or other international Original Equipment Manufacturer.
  • Basic knowledge Chinese, Japanese, Korean, US and ECE technical standards for electric vehicles.
  • Basic knowledge of Power line communication (PLC) technology.
  • Craftsman work onside vehicles (e.g. input / removal of components, software update, online application) highly appreciated.
  • Excellent language skills in English (written and oral); German language skills desired.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Good negotiating skills for technical issues.
  • Capable of working independently and in a team.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, ever-changing, multi-task environment.
  • Willingness to travel.
