Job Purpose:
- Support the company’s commitment to comply with relevant laws, regulations, and policies
- Assist in implementing the long-term comprehensive Strategic Business Plan for the Region by identifying risks and advising and ensuring the company would expose to the minimium business risks in customer arrangements, proposals and service delivery processes
- Develops new ideas and methods to effectively address recurring legal issues or matters facing an aligned country or region.
- Identifies and resolves complex local legal issues
- Manages complex legal responsibilities for multiple client organizations within the organization
- Contributes to complex, multidimensional projects or transactions by advising on the legal side
- Provides legal adivisory and solutions to management at a region or business unit level.
- Organizes and holds training on legal aspects for employees of the company
- Liaises with the corporate legal office
Key competencies:
- Advanced University degree in Law (e.g. LLB, LLM).
- Meets local legal license requirements.
- Several years(5-10) experience in the area of Legal advisory, counseling within a government agency, law firm, and/or in-house legal department.
- An employment within a western company or a Chinese / western JV is a plus.
- Prefered is an additional employment experience outside of China.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven ability to build effective relationships across boundaries (business and region) within the company and with clients
Language Skills:
- Native Mandarin
- Fluent English skills are essential
- German skills would be a plus
Computer Skills:
- Excellent skills with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, Power Point);
- Solid skills with lotus notes 7 is a plus
Abilities: *Understands the interrelationship of financial accounting and business law
- Understands the legal dimension of employee/employer relationships within the region and ensures compliance to these obligations
- Understands the processes, methods and challenges of civil litigation
- Develops methods for supporting innovation and change across the organization
Reporting Lines:
- Reports to Regional Managing Director
Location:
- Position will based in China (Beijing) but will travel to branches in Greater China
- Travelling would be mainly in Asia.
Career prospects:
- Committed to a long-term relationship with the Company in Greater China.
- Career prospects could lead to a General Manager role or perhaps an assignment outside of Greater China
- Build up a legal advisory team
