As Assistant Manager Purchasing-Chassis & Safety you ensure the proper implementation of BMW Purchasing and Supplier Network as well as M-China related processes. You will be familiar with all Global Sourcing activities in Asia as well as localization activities for the Joint Venture. Furthermore you substantially contribute to the Natural Hedging and cost savings target achievement of IPO Asia, localization targets for the production programs of the Joint Venture as well as identifying and implementing business opportunities to improve the cost base for BMW and BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd.. You will also provide a comprehensive market overview of the relevant Chinese and Asian supplier base and technology trends.

Key responsibilities

• Know, understand and apply the BMW Purchasing processes and manage the supplier selection process in Asia.
• Support suppliers in preparation of quotations.
• Good knowledge of the Chinese/Asian supplier base related to his/her responsible field and providing the respective input to the bidderlists/biddercircles as well as maintaining the supplier data base.
• Evaluating new potential suppliers applying the BMW tools.
• Representing purchasing related requirements in cooperation with process partners in quality and logistics.
• Compiling all relevant documents.
• Analyzing and checking quotations for plausibility, reaching an effective level of cost transparency.
• Issuing Request for Quotation documents to suppliers.
• Supporting Junior and Senior Buyers.
• Identifying suppliers and components with focus on topic potential and agreeing with the commodity buyer on them.
• Identifying and supporting deeper localization BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd. Projects.
• Ensuring complete quotations incl. documentations and contracts to be released to BMW AG Purchasing.
• Negotiating quotations with suppliers to reach cost targets and to contribute to the Natural Hedging and cost saving targets.

Qualification

• University degree in electrical / mechanical / automotive engineering or comparable educational background, economics background.
• Background in Purchasing / Supply Chain.
• Experience with in the field of Automotive industry -purchasing, R&D, quality management, production, sales or project management at global automotive suppliers, OEMs or other Hi-Tech industry.
• Intercultural experience and awareness.
• Excellent software skills in MS-office and windows etc..
• Knowledge of production technologies in his/her field.
• Proficiency with negotiations, explaining BMW processes and Request for Quotation details, ability of Quotation Analysis Form training for suppliers mandatory.
• Technical understanding of processes at suppliers and explanation of BMW requirements.
• Competence of attending supplier evaluations and project risk assessments.
• Intercultural experience and awareness.
• Proficient Mandarin/English/German desired.
• Excellent interpersonal – and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team, assertiveness and very good communication skills, strong own initiative and proactiveness.
• Willingness to do domestic and international business traveling.
