Position Summary:
-The Global Technology Field (GTF) Sustainable Lifecycle Engineering supports the Siemens Sectors in the development of environmentally compatible products and technologies.
-With resources such as water, raw materials and energy becoming increasingly scarce, attention is shifting away from short-term action toward a long-term, thought-through strategy of economizing. Improvements in the sustainability of products and solutions are being made possible by the use of efficiency-enhancing technologies and materials. Successful and environmentally friendly product design is thus based on a combination of knowledge and practical experience in terms of selecting, adapting and processing these materials.
-The Sustainable Lifecycle Engineering GTF provides support by way of applied product-specific environmental consulting, for example environmental evaluation (modeling of product life cycles and/or of process chains and material flows for products, manufacturing lines or locations, along with the identification of ecological and economic focal points in a systematic process of creating an ecological balance), documentation of environmental performance aimed at product optimization, and utilization of innovative materials and manufacturing processes with optimization of energy and resource consumption in mind.
-In this position, the candidate will be responsible for the acquisition and execution of customer projects in the field of sustainable lifecycle engineering, especially in cities. The ideal candidate will have preferably a PHD in Environmental Engineering or related fields and a proven track record in managing projects and maintaining customer relationships, 3 years or more experience in R&D on sustainability topics in cities: Evaluation of eco-efficiency, environmental life cycle assessment, carbon footprint, environmental planning, energy saving, anti-pollution measures, planning of non-car transport modes and renewable energy resources planning.

Scope of Responsibilities:
-Acquires projects in the area of interest and secures funding for the projects.
-Establishes a strong customer base, maintains relationships with customer contacts and identifies project opportunities with existing and new customers in the area of expertise.
-Implements and maintains a network of partners and research organizations
-Demonstrates technical thought leadership and serves as the main contact for Siemens businesses in the field of Sustainable Lifecycle Engineering.
-In alignment with the GTF lead, identifies important new technology trends and customer needs in Healthcare, Industry and Energy relevant to Sustainable Lifecycle Engineering, and maps them to the GTF consultancy and technology portfolio.

Required skills/experience:
-Master degree in Environmental Engineering or related engineering field, or Science.
o Experience in eco-city related topics especially environmental assessments (LCA), e.g. Carbon accounting, carbon footprint etc.
o To analyze and model environmental performance indicators in cities.
o To identify ecological weak points in city verticals like transportation, energy or environmental, and derive potential for environmental improvement and economic savings (eco-efficiency)
o To devise, illustrate and implement proposed technical solutions aimed at optimizing eco-efficiency
o Experience in Gabi and SimaPro software (as a plus)
-Experience in smart/eco/sustainable city
-Proficiency in English, spoken and written – German a plus.
-PC skills: MS Office, CAD, (GaBi and SimaPro as a plus)
-Experience in energy-efficiency studies and assessing the sustainability of new technologies in development. (a plus)
-Enthusiastic team player experienced in communicating with global partners in a multi-cultural team environment
-Self-driven and motivated individual with analytical thinking and excellent organizational, and communication skills
