Responsibility:
• Responsibility for developing and describing materials systems as well as manufacturing and repair procedures
• Involves design, engineering and team skills
• Line management, process management, engineering community (local and in network), Universities, research institutes, suppliers, customer representatives

Task:
• Development and implementation of innovative materials concepts (e.g. materials, procedures, descriptive materials data and models) for use in production of new parts as well as in service and repairs
• Supporting component design staff in selecting coating solutions; Supporting service and repair staff in fault analysis and repair decisions; supporting manufacturing staff in selection and qualification of manufacturing processes and their cost-effective application while simultaneously adhering to product definition and quality requirements established in the design process
• Promotion of product quality and improvements to minimize defects in materials systems and joining methods. Contribution to product development (R&D programs) or product modification activities as a team member. Contribution to technology and product development decisions
• Preparation, evaluation, review and application of specifications and other technical documents. Participation in technical risk analyses in reviews and FMEAs
• Communication and documentation of results of activities to line management. Transfer of technologies from R&D to product applications

Knowledge:
• Relevant IT applications: materials data
• Relevant IT applications : R+D database
• Relevant IT applications : Project
• PG Business Processes: Knowledge of PDP (Product Development Process)
• Knowledge in R&D planning and implementation
• Cost-effectiveness evaluations
• Technical product knowledge (ST series, types)
• Quality assurance knowledge
• Six Sigma methods and tools
• Knowledge of turbine manufacturing materials
• Capable of presenting materials questions

Experience:
• Broad university-level engineering knowledge required (professional experience)
• Experience as subproject manager desirable
• Openness to entire network

Education:
Master or above
