• The Task is to take advantage of all market opportunities, whilst considering and avoiding risks for the BMW Group worldwide. As a specialist you are required to continually build your knowledge of the Asian supplier market and you make supplier sourcing decisions. To this end, activities include supplier screening, evaluation, site visits and naturally, requests for quotations accompanied by the subsequent price negotiations.
• Within these activities you will be supported by our cost engineering colleagues as well as with benchmark data. You will play a key role in the development of global sourcing strategies and create the documentation for the supplier decisions. During the development and industrialization phase, you are required to monitor and support the suppliers until the start of production. You will work closely together with an international team encompassing colleagues from development, quality and logistics. Leadership of project teams will be necessary as is travel to supplier locations.

Key responsibilities

• All procurement activities for the defined commodities within Asia. The activities include phases of development, supplier sourcing, industrialization and production. You will work from our china offices, in close connection with the commodity leader(s) in Munich, Germany, as well as with our joint venture in Shenyang, China. The focus of this position is to increase the Asia sourced volumes for the local production of our manufacturing joint venture

Qualification

• Successful completion of Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Automotive Engineering, Business or similar field of study.
• Previous work experience or equivalent experience (for example student internships, leadership of university student groups, etc.).
• Proven project management experience.
• Strong MS Office capability.
• Fluent skills in Mandarin and Business English mandatory, German desired.
• Willingness to travel.
• Ability to take initiative and act independently.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills, open-minded to other cultures.
