We are looking to hire 3 people who are fluent in English and at least two other European languages to work for our Trade department in China. The job is in a city called Wuhu in China’s Anhui Province (http://english.wh.cn/) and we require an 18 month minimum commitment.

Compensation

ENF provides:

• Travel expenses to China and Visa expenses
• Living accommodations within a shared apartment with other ENF employees
• Around 20% commission, on top of a local-level base salary
• 15 days of holiday (in addition to government holidays)

Key skill requirements:

• Candidates should be fluent in English and at least two other European languages (French preferred), a 4th is a strong plus.
• Economics or International Trade or International Law background are preferred
• 2 years of Trade or Sales working experience preferred (fresh graduates accepted)
• Good communication skills and ability to adapt well to working with different cultures and in different languages.
• Business aptitude and the ability to absorb technical information.
• Proven capacity to develop long-term successful partnerships with customers.
• Candidate does not need to be able to speak Chinese as all employees are fluent in English.

Job Details

• The position is based in China and will directly report to the Trade Manager.
• Trade Specialist will assist European companies to purchase solar products (in particular panels) from China.
• Responsible for daily direct contact with the customer, maintaining relationships, and facilitating contracts that usually range between €50,000 to €20,000,000.
• Responsible facilitating face to face negotiations, introducing customers to manufacturers, site visits, etc.
• Travel to Europe likely 2 to 3 times a year for meeting new customers and maintaining existing relationships.
• Work closely with Chinese colleagues (fluent in English) who provide support with pricing/purchasing and logistics.
• Responsible for continuous awareness about the market, products, trends, etc. while at the same time developing new partnerships, maintaining relationships with existing customers and anticipating overall future needs.

It is important for us that our new staff is stable and happy, so we would like to point out potential negatives candidates should consider:

• Wuhu is a small city by Chinese standards (1,000,000 people) and is not a tourist hot spot. This means that unlike Beijing and Shanghai there are very few foreigners around, if you are expecting to hang around solely with Europeans your options may be limited but the city is developing quickly.
• On the positive side the city is well developed and clean. There are some global supermarket chains showing food labels in English, and large department stores which make shopping easy.
• Although there is only one English-language TV channel, the company has a DVD library with over 1000 DVDs for the staff to borrow.
